It is a known fact that Software Estimation is an area where most organizations experience plenty of problems. A good Size Model (which is also a CMM requirement) helps solve this problem.

It has been our experience that off-the-shelf size models though good in theory seldom work in practice, without modifications given the diverse types of software that are developed by software companies - therefore developing a customized model that is relevant to the client's needs, is very important.

We will help to develop a customized Size Model that is relevant to the Client rather than taking a theoretical model from books that may not be entirely appropriate for the Client.

The focus will be to establish and implement a customized model for sizing the different types of software that are developed by the client. A good size model ultimately leads to a much improved effort estimate for software projects. The activities in deriving the size model are as under:

• Brainstorming sessions

• Identifying skeleton of the size model

• Fleshing out the size model

• Review of the size model and estimation process

The brainstorming sessions and identification of the skeleton of the size model will be carried out jointly. Participation of software engineers from the client side in the brainstorming sessions will be of extreme importance.

CyberQ will review the detailed size model and the estimation process defined by the client to verify that they provide for effective and sensible deployment.
